Business Insider UK’s cheapest motorcycle helmet is worth an eye-watering £3.6 million, as its makers look to sell their first branded bike helmet.
The latest addition to the UK’s motorcycle helmet market, called the Smart Helmet, is made by British motorcycle manufacturer, BSA.
Its helmet, which features an array of sensors, has been sold in the UK for £300,000, or roughly the price of a new £500 pair of BSA motorcycle helmets.
But the Smart helmet is selling for a bit more than that.
The bike helmet is available in white, black, red and gold, and costs £300 in total.
“It’s an interesting piece of marketing for BSA,” BSA chief executive Mark O’Brien told Business Insider.
He added that the helmet’s price tag is not necessarily indicative of the value of the product.
“This is an extremely well-crafted piece of technology and we’ve really enjoyed using it,” he said.
In the UK, BSSA sells its helmets in three colour schemes: black, white and gold.
The helmets come in different styles, with the black model offering better protection and more comfortable fit.
BSA has been selling its helmet for the last year or so.
It began selling the helmets in the United Kingdom in October, and now the helmet is on sale in France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Spain and the Netherlands.
But O’Briens hopes that the launch of the helmet in the US will boost sales in the country.
“We’ve had very good sales growth in the USA, but that’s really only been in the last 12 months,” he told Business Insider.
When asked how he was going to compete with BSA, O’Brian said that the US market has “huge” potential.
“The market is massive and it’s going to be a big part of the next five to 10 years,” he added.
One of the major challenges with the market is the price tag.
O’Brien said that in the U.
S, a helmet can be sold for around $400, while in the European Union, a standard helmet can cost more than $1,000.
“There’s no reason why a helmet should be any different,” he explained.
There are a number of bike helmets in development, but the US is where BSA is the most active in the market.
It has plans to expand its range to include a range of different helmets, including a carbon fibre helmet, a leather helmet, and a synthetic helmet.
“It really depends on how the market develops, and it will be interesting to see how that evolves,” O’Connor said.
